At USF Dr. Wagner intents to develop and conduct international academic training programs for professionals in Occupational Health & Safety and Occupational Medicine. These training programs want to benefit specifically professionals from developing and industrializing countries. In the globalized world where even medium-sized companies operate and produce internationally, the training of OSH specialists is important to keep the social development in step with the economic development. Social security systems which protect workers and their families at work as well as preventive systems such as company-based environmental & occupational preventive services play an important role in bringing social protection and disease prevention to the individuals in the communities. From 2002 till 2006 he has directed a post-graduate course in Occupational Medicine at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute in Chennai , India (former Madras). He is organizer of the working group "Academic Teaching in Developing Countries in Occupational Health", an activity of the Network of WHO Collaborating Centers in Occupational Health.
