Introduction

FAHUM stands for Fuerzas Aliadas Humanitarian. The FAHUM exercises have taken place in the Dominican Republic (2000) and in Nicaragua (2003) and gather disaster management and military personnel from the Latin American and Caribbean region and the United Sates. Up to 23 countries are usually represented.

Strategies related to better our collaborative efforts in dealing with natural and human made hazards and their impact on communities are discussed. Plans of action to implement those strategies are being drawn. The latest conference took place in Managua, Nicaragua from February 24 to 28, 2003.
