Dr. Tricia Kuster was notified that her grant proposal Stress in Mothers of Technology-Dependent Children with Respiratory Support, a Pilot Study was funded through the Pediatric Clinical Research Center (PCRC) at All Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Cecile Lengacher was notified that her article, “Humor and Laughter may Influence Health.” was published January 16, 2006 edition of eCAM Advance Access.

Dr. Versie Johnson accepted an invitation to be an Editor for a textbook entitled Comprehensive Women's Health Care published by Elsevier.

Dr. Cecilia Jevitt was notified that her article "Screening for Perinatal Depression with Limited Psychiatric Resources" was published in the January 2006 issue (11(6), 359-363) of the Journal of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Nursing student, Jessica Brumley, was notified that she received a scholarship from the National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations to attend the second annual National Conference at the Wyndham Chicago Hotel and present her abstract.

Nursing student, Daryl Wane, was selected as the faculty from her division at Pasco Hernando Community College to receive the Teaching Excellence Award provided by the University of Texas at Austin for community college faculty.  It is a NISOD (National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development) conference award.

Nursing student, Daryl Wane, was also invited (as one of 40 nominated positions) to participate in the Oxford Round Table devoted to Health and Nutrition to be held at Harris Manchester College in the University of Oxford, Oxford England - April 2 - April 7th, 2006. 

Nursing student, Cathy Pank, with the mentorship of Dr. Judy Karshmer and Denise Passmore, was notified that her Fall ’05 capstone manuscript, “Ten Effective Online Learning Strategies to Obtain a BSN Degree,” was accepted for publication by the American Journal of Nursing.

Nursing graduate, Heide Stein, through the mentorship of Dr. Elaine Slocumb, received notification that her Fall 2005 Capstone manuscript, "Glass Ampules and Filter Needles: Recommendations for Safe Practice" has been accepted for publication by MedSurg Nursing: The Journal of Adult Health.  Heidi received her MS in December, with a concentration in Nursing Education. 

Dr. Cecile Lengacher
was notified that The BCN (BreastCancer.Net) News ran a summary of her paper Relief of Symptoms, Side Effects, and Psychological Distress Through Use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Women With Breast Cancer.

Dr. Maureen Groer was invited to be a candidate for secretary/treasurer of the Society of Behavioral medicine.  Her submitted paper, "Rape is associated with an upregulated inflammatory response system", was selected as a citation paper for the spring meeting of SBM in San Francisco.

Dr. Maureen Groer has also been invited by Nova Science Publishers to contribute a chapter on Postpartum Depression.

Dr. Maureen Groer has also accepted an invitation to be part of a team presenting a pre-conference at SNRS on Perish-proof Publishing. She will also present a paper, “Relationships between menstrual cycle stage, premenstrual distress, serum and ex vivo cytokines and antibodies to Epstein Barr virus."

Dr. Linda Moody accepted an invitation share her pulmonary and informatics expertise at the AHRQ Child Health Information Systems Conference and NICHQ's 5th Annual Forum for Improving Children's Healthcare in Orlando on Mar 15. The national panel will develop an algorithm on asthma that will be published as a "best practice model" for electronic health data standards for children.

Nursing graduate, Dr. Huey Jen Chen, was notified that her article, "Caregivers’ Level of Trust in Their Children's Health Care Providers" was published in the Journal of Child and Family Studies, in the December 30, 2005 issue.

Nursing student, Mary Agnes Craddock won the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners scholarship. It will be posted on the website in February 2006.  She also won the Roger's Heart Foundation Scholarship for the 2005-2006 year and USF Women's Club scholarship for Fall 2005.
