USF Health - All Children's Hospital

The Department of Pediatrics, College of Medicine, USF Health in partnership with All Children's Hospital, St. Petersburg, seeks an outstanding scientist for the position of Rothman Chair in Developmental Pediatrics. The successful candidate is expected to have an academic and professional focus on aspects of brain development, learning, and function in infants and children with risk for neurodevelopmental disorders.

Currently, the College of Medicine has over 540 fulltime core faculty, over 450 medical students, and over 150 students in the biomedical graduate program. As a result of a recent reorganization, a School of Basic Biomedical Sciences has been established to serve as the home for all basic and translational research within the College. With the objective of doubling its extramural funding in the next five years, faculty of the College of Medicine have outlined a bold strategic plan which includes recruitment of over 50 new tenured/tenure earning faculty and the establishment of state of the art Core facilities.

All Children's Hospital is a 216-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the College of Medicine, USF Health. Its more than 140 pediatric specialists and sub-specialists provide state-of-the-art medical and surgical care for children from throughout Florida, many other states and foreign countries. The hospital is recognized nationally as an outstanding center for pediatric treatment, education and research. The Children's Research Institute, adjacent to All Children's Hospital, currently has ongoing research in Pediatric Immunology, Cardiology and Molecular Genetics. The modern 50,000 square foot research building has Core facilities in High Throughput Sequencing, Flow Cytometry, and Protein Isolation.

USF Health consists of the colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health. Also included are the schools of Basic Biomedical Sciences and Physical Therapy. In partnership with its affiliated hospitals, USF Health's research funding last year was $164 million - more than half of which came from federal sources. It has research and clinical affiliations with H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, the Johnnie B. Byrd Sr. Alzheimer's Research Institute, the Tampa General Hospital, the Shriner's Hospital for Children, and the James A. Haley and Bay Pines VA Medical Centers. USF is one of only 95 public and private universities in the U.S. that have been designated as Carnegie Comprehensive Doctoral Research University/Very High Research Activity.

Minimum requirements include a MD, PhD, or MD/PhD with a minimum of five years of experience as an Associate Professor or equivalent. A record of sustained accomplishments and evidence of leadership in his/her field, relevant administrative experience, and evidence of effective interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills is required. The successful candidate is expected to have a distinguished record of scholarly activity, continuous NIH R01 and other extramural funding and requisite teaching experience in a medical/graduate curriculum. A legacy of building interdisciplinary programs, interest in Systems Biology and experience with successfully mentoring graduate and medical students, postdoctoral-fellows, and junior faculty is also required.
