Funding and Financial Support |
| Funding of graduate stipends and tuition waivers of students admitted by vote of the NCC will be the responsibility of the Dean of the College of Medicine, through the office of Research and Graduate Affairs, and the student’s Major Professor(s). In the normal course of study, it is expected that funding of stipends will become the responsibility of the student’s Major Professor at the beginning of the second year. Funding of graduate stipends and tuition waivers of students with a Neuroscience Concentration admitted by vote of the Basic Sciences Departments of the Ph.D. Program in Medical Sciences are the responsibility of the Departments. Funding is not guaranteed as it is depends on the availability of funds and the successful progress of the student. |
| The Neuroscience Seminar Series is funded by the Dean of the College of Medicine, through the office of Research and Graduate Affairs. |
| TUITION AND FEES - These are the same as listed in the University of South Florida Catalog. |
| FINANCIAL SUPPORT - Funds are usually available for students admitted to the program. Deadlines for all funding sources are available from the Graduate Office. |
| GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS - Support of $15,000 is available for the first year on a competitive basis. Subsequent years are usually supported from research grants held by faculty members. |

GRADUATE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANTS - are awarded to outstanding African American graduate students. Recipients receive up to $3,000 for both Fall and Spring semesters and a partial tuition waiver. Doctoral level students are eligible for six semesters of support. Awards are made yearly. Eligible students must be nominated by the chairperson or the program/department director of the student's discipline, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last two years of undergraduate work. [Minimum GRE of 900*]. For additional information, including deadlines, contact the Office for Research and Graduate Affairs (College of Medicine). *Note that the Neuroscience Concentration has a higher minimum. |
| UNIVERSITY GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP - Recipients receive $7,000 for the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) and a partial tuition waiver. Applicants must have an upper-division undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or better, graduate GPA of 3.5 for any graduate work and 1200 or better on the combined verbal-quantitative portions of the GRE. TUITION WAIVERS - Provide waiver of the matriculation portion of out-of-state tuition to students who are non-residents of the State of Florida. The waiver is awarded to students for a given semester and may be renewed. This support is subject to availability of funds. Tuition waivers of the matriculation portion are also available for residents. |
