The University of South Florida College of Medicine offers a Doctoral degree in Medical Sciences with training in a broad range of biomedical sciences. Students are selected from a competitive applicant pool and supported by stipends and tuition waivers. During their training, students have access to excellent laboratory research facilities. Recent graduates of the program have been very successful in obtaining academic, research, industrial, and professional positions nationally and internationally. |

The USF College of Medicine now offers a Multidisciplinary Biomedical Sciences (MBS) track that combines strong biomedical sciences training with increased research opportunities. Incoming first year students enrolled in the MBS track will participate in an orientation week. During orientation, faculty members from across all medical science disciplines will present their current research projects. Without restriction to any one department, students are given the opportunity to choose three mentors of interest for a five-week laboratory rotation. A mentor can be chosen from among graduate faculty conducting research at the College of Medicine, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, James Haley Veteran's Hospital, All Children's Hospital, and Tampa General Hospital. |

In addition to the three five-week laboratory rotations, the Fall semester of the MBS track involves participation in a core eight-credit course that will provide an essential background in biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology. Since the course also serves as a core requirement for all departments, the credits earned are applied towards degree completion. Students typically select a mentor by the end of the Fall semester and by the Spring semester will begin to follow more specific departmental course requirements. |
