ACGME Requirements for MED-PEDS

MEDICINE PEDIATRIC

6 months supervisory responsibility

PGY 1-2 ER block-1month

Inpatient-minimum 8 months experience

Intensive Care - max of 4 months

Subspecialty experience - 4 months:

"must include experience as consultant"

"significant exposure to cardiology"

"clinical exp in Geriatrics is necessary"

33% of time in Ambulatory Care:

2 block months of ambulatory - 9%

½ day cont. clinic every other week - 5%

Remaining 19% comes from derm, gyne, additional ER/community (a month of ambulatory exp is 4.5%)

40% of time outpatient experience

Selectives (from list of 11 subsp**) - 4 months

Intensive Care: 3 NICU (1 mo NF), 1 PICU - 4 months

Adolescent - 1 month

Newborn Nursery - 1 month

Development - 1 month

Acute Care/ER - 3 months/ 1 month ER block

Inpatient-minimum 5 months/ 2 months supervisory

**You can combine an elective to meet requirements (IM 33% amb care), i.e., derm & gyne instead of entire month of gyne - if approved by PD/Attending.

 

** Subspecialties in pediatrics that you must choose 2 additional electives (Hem/Onc and Neurology-Neuro-developmental are required)
