Biographical Sketch

Sandra Gompf is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of South Florida and Chief of the Infectious Diseases Section at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Gompf received her medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa. She also completed her Internal Medicine residency and her Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of South Florida.

She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with additional subspecialty certification in Infectious Diseases. She is a member of numerous organizations, including the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the HIV Medicine Association, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
 
Her publications include numerous contributions to eMedicine, Infections in Medicine, and book chapters. She is a principal investigator on several federal and pharmaceutical grants. She is the recipient of several honors and awards including the Outstanding Teaching Attending award for Infectious Diseases.

As Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Tampa VA, Dr. Gompf has cultivated a thriving educational program for housestaff, medical students, and pharmaceutical trainees that is a point of pride and attracts a growing following.
