Biographical Sketch

Dr. Michael D. Knox, a licensed clinical psychologist, holds a joint faculty appointment in the Division of Infectious Disease and International Medicine.  While at USF, Dr. Knox has been responsible for more than $50 million in grants and external funding.  In 1988 he founded the USF Center for HIV Education and Research and in 2002 the Florida/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center (F/C AETC), which is funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services.

 

Dr. Knox is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Society and is listed in the latest editions of Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in America.  He chairs the US Peace Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, and is editor of the US Peace Registry.  In 2007, he was awarded the Marsella Prize for the Psychology of Peace and Social Justice at the 115th Annual Meeting of the American Psychological Association.  Dr. Knox has traveled throughout the world to deliver presentations, consultations, and to develop collaborations.  His work has focused on behavioral approaches to disease prevention and training primary care clinicians to treat HIV/AIDS.
