Biographical Sketch

dr moralesValerie Sumner Morales, ARNP has been a geriatric nurse practitioner for 16 years and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has been with the College of Medicine and the Division of Geriatric Medicine for 15 years. She completed both her baccalaureate and master's degrees at the University of South Florida in 1978 and 1989 respectively. She is responsible for health care to approximately 150 nursing home residents; collaboration with USF physicians and Community physicians regarding the care of these residents; provide health care to ambulatory clinic patients; provide in-service education to nursing home staff; education to medical students and geriatric fellows regarding Long Term Care for the elderly; participation in research projects with USF faculty; and preceptor for Geriatric Nurse Practitioner students. She is a current member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society for Nurses, Delta Beta Chapter Charter Member, American Nurses' Association, Florida Nurses Association, Gerontological Society of America and the West Coast Chapter of Advanced Practice Nurses.
