Biographical Sketch

dr lelandDr. Leland did her undergraduate training at the Jacksonville University in Florida and graduated from the medical school at the University of South Florida in Florida. She completed her medical residency at at the University of South Florida, and a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the University of South Florida and Saint Louis University in St. Louis, MO. She established the Medical Foster Care Program at James A. Haley VA in 2004, the Palliative Care Consult Team in 2003, she was a participant in AHEAD program for Home Based Dementia Care, September 2001, and the Hospice and Palliative Care Inpatient Unit, James A. Haley VA Hospital, Nursing Home Care Unit 1996. She is currently Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine, University of South Florida, College of Medicine. Director of Hospice and Community Medicine, James A. Haley Veterans Administration Hospital, Tampa. and Medical Director, Home Based Primary Care, James A Haley Veterans Hospital. Dr. Leland is actively involved with patient care, education of fellows and residents, and clinical research.

On a national level, Dr. Leland is prominently involved in a number of organizations. She is currently a Medical Expert for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, Founding member of the International College of Hospice/Palliative Care and many other professional organizations.
