Tampa General Hospital Palliative Care Service

  • A new service at Tampa General Hospital is the Palliative Care Service, this service began in January 2005.
  • Three of USF's Senior Health (Geriatric Medicine) faculty will be participating in these services under the direction of Dr. Vincent Perron.  In addition to the USF faculty, the Palliative Care Services Committee includes, Tricia Schusterk a clinical nurse specializing in Palliative Care; Rev. Bill Baugh, Director of Pastoral Care; Chaplain Richard Long; Kassie Basnight, ICU I & II Manager; and Roger Howard, Decision Support Director.  
  • The service provides both Palliative Care Consults and inpatient care.
  • The Fellow will be involved in direct patient care, and will round daily with the Nurse Practitioner.
  • The Fellow also assists in Palliative Care consultations, and attends team meetings twice a week.
