Honorary Guest Speaker: Mayor Pam Iorio

Master of Ceremony:  Sarina Fazan, Anchor & Reporter, ABC Action News

Sarina Fazan is a multi nominated Emmy journalist who  anchors the 6 & 11 weekend newscast. Sarina has also received numerous awards from the Associated Press, Society of Professional journalists, and other media organizations for many of her exclusive reports. Sarina has earned a reputation in the bay area for landing
interviews with some of the area's biggest and most controversial newsmakers. Among some of her biggest stories, she led the coverage of the notorious Debra Lafave teacher sex scandal. She was the first reporter invited to the Aisenberg's home in Baltimore after the couple moved from the bay area because of the intense scrutiny surrounding the disappearance of their daughter Sabrina. The mother of the infamous DC Madam, sat down only with Sarina after her daughter's suicide. The only known correspondence from the infamous child killer, John Couey, was to Sarina. Sarina
was also the first reporter given exclusive home video of Hostage Keith Stansell being reunited with his family after five ears of captivity in Columbia. She was also the only reporter in the country invited to view the wedding video of Terry Schiavo, the woman who was at the center of a decade long right to life case in Florida.

*But, one of the stories Sarina is most passionate about is taking action for a high school senior who was brutally beaten and raped. The attack caused lifelong injuries and insurance denied to extend her care. Sarina, involved lawmakers, from as high as the Governor to get the victim's healthcare extended. Sarina also did a series of reports that got the community involved. Because of the media coverage, tens and thousands of dollars was raised for this young victim.

*These high profile reports as well as sItting in the anchor chair at ABC Action News is the culmination of a lifelong dream. Sarina was born in Kashmir and moved to Seattle when she was 2. English is Sarina's 4th language and she learned how to speak english by watching her idols Walter Cronkite and Barbara Walters. But, like her idol Barbara Walters, she struggled for years to overcome a speech impediment. It did not keep her from pursuing her dream, though, and she encourages everyone to do the same, no matter what obstacles are in their way. That is why Sarina likes to spend time with children from various organizations who feel they have encountered some type of roadblock and tries to encourage them to follow their desires.

*While, Sarina has wanted to be in television since she was two, there are pictures of her holding a microphone made of aluminum foil. Sarina says her greatest accomplishment in life is being a mother. Sarina, her husband Dave and their daughter Samantha are happy to call South Tampa home.

The Geriatric Gala Committee is proud to offer "Dali on Tour" exhibit which consists of photographic reporductions of works from the museum’s permanent collection. Each image is framed and is accompanied by a museum-style wall placard giving informative and intriguing notes about the painting represented. Dali on Tour offers a retrospective with significant examples from each of Dalí’s four main stylistic periods. The exhibit also includes a booklet, which leads visitors through the fascinating panorama of Dalí’s life and work. Part of the museum’s mission is to present Dalí’s art for consideration by as many people as possible. Dali on Tour allows us to provide faithful reproductions of Dalí’s images and information about him and his work to a large number of people who otherwise would not have this kind of opportunity.
