Research Interests
The basic research in my laboratory concerns the T-cell response to transplantation antigen and tumor. Our efforts have focused on understanding how signals through antigen receptors and costimulatory receptors modulate T-cell activation or tolerance. The mechanisms of T-cell tolerance include deletion, anergy and immune regulation, and the aim of our research is to induce selective T-cell tolerance through these mechanisms. We hope that the insights gained from these studies can be used to develop new strategies for selective inhibition of graft-versus-host diseases (GVHD) induced by T-cells from allogeneic donor after hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), while leaving the graft-versus-tumor (GVT) activity intact.
