For 2007-2008, all new students will receive stipends of $22,600 per year. In addition full tuition waivers and student health insurance are provided. An annual cost of living increase is provided to students starting in their second year of study. Affordable housing is easily available close to the University and the Tampa area has one of the lowest cost-of-living rates in the country. Incoming students are supported from Program funds through the first year. The major professor becomes responsible for providing stipend support after this time. Students are encouraged to apply for funding from outside sources. A good way to do this is to submit your qualifying proposal to relevant granting agencies. The chairman of the Cancer Biology Education committee will have a list of relevant granting agencies and will assist students in obtaining application materials. Outside employment for students receiving stipends is prohibited.
