Course Requirements All students are required to successfully complete the Cancer Biology Program Core Courses. In addition students will be expected to take one approved elective course, according to their interest, chosen from the following courses available in the College of Medicine. Dissertation Committees may also require students to take additional course work if needed to correct deficiencies. In special circumstances the Cancer Biology Education Committee can waive course requirements, if the student has recently completed identical coursework elsewhere. Students are required to achieve a minimal GPA of B in Cancer Biology Core courses and an overall GPA of 3.0 (B). Grades of C will be not accepted toward the Ph.D. degree, but are included in the overall GPA. The graduate grade point average or GPA derives from the weighted-average of all grades (A=4, B=3 and C=2) obtained in approved lecture courses (a list of approved courses is provided below). The Cancer Biology Education Committee will place any student falling below these standards on academic probation. The student will be notified in writing and a copy of the letter will go to the Graduate School. Students on probation will be reviewed at the end of each semester and the Committee will recommend one of three alternatives.
